Home › AML / KYC Policy

This Anti-Money Laundering and Know Your Customer Policy ("Policy") applies to all players who register and transact at shakebetsonline.co, operated by May Sun Services S.A. ("Shakebet", "we", "us", "our"). Shakebet is licensed in Anjouan under licence number ALSI-202411025-FI1, and we are committed to conducting our business in full compliance with applicable anti-money laundering ("AML") legislation, counter-terrorist financing ("CTF") obligations, and responsible Know Your Customer ("KYC") standards. This Policy sets out the procedures we follow to detect, prevent, and report financial crime, and explains what we require from our players and why.

1. Purpose and Scope

The purpose of this Policy is to protect Shakebet, our players, and the wider financial system from being exploited for money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, or any other financial crime. This Policy applies to:

  • All registered players at shakebetsonline.co, regardless of their method of registration or payment;
  • All deposits, wagers, withdrawals, bonus claims, and other financial transactions conducted on the platform;
  • All members of the Shakebet team who handle customer accounts, payments, or compliance matters.

By registering an account and using our services, every player acknowledges and agrees to be bound by this Policy and to co-operate fully with any verification requests we make.

2. Our Legal and Regulatory Framework

Shakebet operates under the Anjouan Offshore Finance Authority licence (ALSI-202411025-FI1) issued to May Sun Services S.A. Our AML and KYC obligations are shaped by this licence and by internationally recognised standards, including those published by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). We implement a risk-based approach to customer due diligence that scales verification requirements to the level of risk presented by each customer and each transaction.

We will co-operate fully with any lawful request from a relevant regulatory authority or law-enforcement agency. Where we identify or reasonably suspect money laundering or terrorist financing, we are obliged to file a Suspicious Activity Report ("SAR") with the appropriate authority and to take such other action as is required by law. In such circumstances we are legally prohibited from disclosing to the customer — or to any third party — that a report has been made ("tipping-off" prohibition).

3. What Is Money Laundering?

Money laundering is the process by which individuals or organisations seek to conceal the origin of funds obtained through criminal activity, making illegally obtained money appear legitimate. It typically involves three stages:

  • Placement — introducing criminal proceeds into the financial system, for example by depositing funds into a gambling account;
  • Layering — obscuring the audit trail through a series of complex transactions, transfers, or bets;
  • Integration — reintroducing the "cleaned" funds into the legitimate economy as ostensibly lawful income (for example, as gambling "winnings").

Online casinos are recognised as potentially vulnerable to all three stages. Shakebet implements robust controls at every point in the transaction lifecycle to detect and disrupt any such activity.

4. Risk-Based Approach

Shakebet applies a risk-based approach ("RBA") to AML and KYC. This means the extent of our due diligence is proportionate to the risk profile of each customer and each transaction. Risk factors we assess include, but are not limited to:

  • Country or jurisdiction of residence;
  • Source of funds and source of wealth;
  • Volume, frequency, and pattern of transactions;
  • Payment methods used (see Section 9);
  • Whether the customer is a Politically Exposed Person ("PEP") or is subject to international sanctions;
  • Unusual betting patterns or activity inconsistent with stated player profile;
  • Requests to withdraw funds shortly after deposit with minimal or no wagering activity;
  • Multiple accounts or evidence of account sharing.

Customers assessed as higher risk will be subject to Enhanced Due Diligence ("EDD"). Shakebet reserves the right to review and update a customer's risk classification at any time based on new information or changes in behaviour.

5. Know Your Customer (KYC) — Customer Due Diligence

5.1 When KYC Verification Is Required

All players must complete identity verification before any withdrawal is processed. In addition, we may require verification at any earlier point, including but not limited to:

  • Upon or shortly after account registration, at our discretion;
  • When cumulative deposits or transactions reach risk-based thresholds;
  • When a player attempts to withdraw funds for the first time;
  • When account activity triggers an internal alert or compliance review;
  • When a player's risk profile is upgraded;
  • Periodically, as part of ongoing due diligence reviews of existing accounts.

We reserve the right to restrict account functionality — including suspending deposits, wagers, bonus activation, and withdrawals — until satisfactory verification has been completed. The minimum deposit at Shakebet is €20 and the minimum withdrawal is €25; no withdrawal will be approved without KYC completion.

5.2 Standard KYC Documents (Customer Due Diligence)

For standard Customer Due Diligence ("CDD"), we will request:

  • Proof of Identity (POI) — a valid, government-issued photo ID such as a passport, national identity card, or driving licence. The document must be current, clearly legible, and show your full name, date of birth, and a photograph;
  • Proof of Address (POA) — a recent document (typically dated within the last three months) confirming your residential address, such as a utility bill, bank statement, or official government correspondence;
  • Proof of Payment Method — confirmation that you own and control the payment method used for deposits or withdrawals. For cards this may include a photograph of the card (with the middle eight digits obscured); for e-wallets, a screenshot of the account; for cryptocurrency wallets, confirmation of wallet ownership as requested by our team.

5.3 Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD)

Where a customer is identified as higher risk — including Politically Exposed Persons, customers depositing or withdrawing large sums, or those whose account activity raises questions — we will apply Enhanced Due Diligence. EDD may require:

  • Source of Funds (SOF) documentation — evidence of the origin of the funds used for gambling, such as recent payslips, bank statements, a letter from an employer, or evidence of a business transaction;
  • Source of Wealth (SOW) documentation — evidence of the broader accumulation of the customer's overall financial standing, such as audited accounts, investment statements, or evidence of inheritance or property sale;
  • Additional identity documents or certified copies;
  • Information about the purpose and intended nature of the business relationship;
  • Senior management approval before a business relationship is established or continued.

For players in higher VIP tiers — particularly those approaching or exceeding the standard weekly withdrawal limit of €10,000, or Mega VIP players whose daily limit may reach €100,000 — enhanced scrutiny of source of funds and source of wealth is routine and expected. Such reviews are not personal; they are a mandatory feature of responsible, compliant operations at these transaction levels.

5.4 Ongoing Monitoring

KYC is not a one-time process. Shakebet conducts ongoing monitoring of all customer accounts throughout the business relationship. This includes:

  • Periodic review and refresh of KYC documentation, particularly where documents have expired or information has changed;
  • Continuous transaction monitoring to identify patterns inconsistent with the customer's stated profile or known circumstances;
  • Review of accounts where activity patterns change materially — for example, a significant increase in deposit frequency or withdrawal volumes;
  • Sanctions and PEP screening on an ongoing basis, not only at onboarding.

6. Age Verification

Shakebet operates a strict minimum age policy. Players must be at least 18 years of age (or the legal gambling age in their jurisdiction, if higher) to register and play. Age verification is part of the standard KYC process. We may request proof of age at any time and will suspend or close any account where we have reason to believe a player is under the minimum age. Any funds deposited by an underage player will not be returned as winnings and the account will be closed.

7. Prohibited Players and Restricted Jurisdictions

Shakebet does not knowingly accept registrations from, or conduct business with:

  • Persons under the legal minimum age for gambling;
  • Persons located in, or residents of, jurisdictions where online gambling is prohibited by local law;
  • Persons named on applicable international sanctions lists (including UN, EU, OFAC, and FATF high-risk jurisdiction lists);
  • Persons who have been identified as Politically Exposed Persons without completion of appropriate EDD and senior management sign-off;
  • Persons who have been self-excluded or whose accounts have been closed for responsible gambling or fraud-related reasons.

Players are required to confirm at registration that they are not located in a restricted jurisdiction and that the funds they intend to use are legitimately sourced. Providing false information is a material breach of our Terms and Conditions and may result in account closure and forfeiture of funds.

8. Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs) and Sanctions Screening

A Politically Exposed Person is an individual who holds, or has held within the last 12 months, a prominent public function — such as a head of state, government minister, senior judicial official, senior military officer, or executive of a state-owned enterprise — or a close family member or known associate of such a person. PEPs carry an inherently elevated risk profile under AML frameworks.

Shakebet screens all new customers and, on an ongoing basis, existing customers against PEP databases and international sanctions lists. Where a customer is identified as a PEP or a sanctioned individual:

  • Their account will be flagged for enhanced review;
  • EDD will be applied before the business relationship is established or continued;
  • Senior management approval is required;
  • The business relationship may be declined or terminated where we cannot adequately manage the associated risk.

9. Payment Methods and AML Controls

Shakebet supports a broad range of deposit and withdrawal methods, each of which is subject to specific AML controls.

9.1 Supported Payment Methods

We currently support the following payment channels:

  • Cryptocurrencies — Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), BNB, USDC, Dogecoin (DOGE), TRON (TRX), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Litecoin (LTC), and USDT (on BEP20, ERC20, and TRC20 networks);
  • E-wallets — including Klarna and other supported electronic payment services;
  • Cards and other methods — as displayed in the cashier at the time of transaction.

9.2 Cryptocurrency Transactions

Cryptocurrency payments offer significant speed advantages — crypto deposits confirm in seconds and withdrawals clear near-instantly following our standard review window. However, crypto transactions also require specific AML controls:

  • Players must transact from wallets they own and control. Third-party wallet transactions are not permitted;
  • Withdrawals will only be returned to wallets previously used for deposits, or to wallets that have been verified as belonging to the account holder, in order to prevent layering;
  • We may use blockchain analytics tools to assess the risk profile of incoming transactions. Funds originating from wallets associated with illicit activity, darknet markets, mixers/tumblers, or sanctioned addresses will be refused and the account subjected to immediate review;
  • USDT is supported on BEP20, ERC20, and TRC20 networks; players must ensure they select the correct network to avoid transaction errors.

9.3 General Payment Controls

  • Payment method consistency — withdrawals must generally be returned to the same payment method used for the corresponding deposit. This is a core AML control to prevent the use of the platform as a funds-transfer mechanism;
  • No third-party payments — deposits from, and withdrawals to, payment methods owned by a third party are strictly prohibited;
  • Transaction limits — the minimum deposit is €20 and the minimum withdrawal is €25. The standard weekly withdrawal limit is €10,000. Players at Mega VIP tier (Levels 46–50) may access a daily withdrawal limit of up to €100,000, subject to completed EDD and compliance review;
  • Payout speed and review — payout timescales are: cryptocurrency near-instant; e-wallets up to 24 hours; cards 1–3 business days. All withdrawals are subject to a compliance review window regardless of method.

10. Transaction Monitoring and Suspicious Activity

Shakebet's compliance team conducts both automated and manual monitoring of account activity. Alerts may be triggered by, amongst other factors:

  • Deposits followed immediately by withdrawal requests with little or no wagering activity;
  • Unusual patterns of deposits across multiple payment methods;
  • Repeated deposits at or just below round-number thresholds (structuring);
  • A sudden and unexplained increase in deposit volumes relative to the player's established profile;
  • Inconsistent betting behaviour — for example, placing opposing bets designed to generate withdrawable balances rather than to win;
  • Requests to change withdrawal destination to a different payment method or wallet address without adequate explanation;
  • Complaints or reports linking a player's account to fraud, identity theft, or other criminal activity.

Where suspicious activity is identified, Shakebet will:

  • Suspend withdrawals and/or all account activity pending investigation;
  • Request additional documentation (SOF, SOW, or other verification);
  • Escalate to senior compliance personnel;
  • File a SAR with the relevant authority where legally required;
  • Close the account and, where legally permitted, retain or return funds as directed by law.

11. How to Submit KYC Documents

KYC documents should be submitted through the secure verification portal accessible from within your Shakebet account, or as directed by our support team. When submitting documents, please ensure:

  • Documents are clear, fully legible, and unobstructed — all four corners must be visible;
  • Photographs are taken in good lighting with no flash glare;
  • Files are in a supported format (JPG, PNG, or PDF) and are not password-protected;
  • Documents are current and have not expired;
  • Your full name, date of birth, and address on the documents match exactly the details registered on your Shakebet account.

Our compliance team aims to review submitted documents as promptly as possible. If additional information is required, we will contact you via the email address registered to your account or through Live Chat. Our support team is available 24/7 via Live Chat and email at shakebetsonline.co to assist with any queries relating to verification.

12. Consequences of Non-Compliance

Failure to complete KYC verification, provision of false or misleading information, or any attempt to use Shakebet for money laundering or financial crime will result in one or more of the following:

  • Suspension of account access, including deposits, wagers, and withdrawals;
  • Permanent closure of the account;
  • Forfeiture of any bonus funds, free spins, cashback credits, or loyalty points associated with the account;
  • Reporting of the matter to relevant law-enforcement authorities and/or the Anjouan licensing authority;
  • Retention of funds pending legal advice or instruction from a competent authority;
  • Civil or criminal action where appropriate.

Players who believe their account has been incorrectly flagged or suspended may contact our support team. We will endeavour to resolve genuine cases promptly and fairly.

13. Data Protection and Confidentiality

Personal data and documentation collected for AML and KYC purposes is processed solely for compliance, fraud prevention, and identity verification purposes. All data is stored securely and in accordance with applicable data protection principles. We will not share your personal data with third parties except:

  • Where required to do so by law, regulation, or court order;
  • With regulatory or law-enforcement authorities in connection with a lawful investigation;
  • With trusted third-party service providers engaged to assist with identity verification, sanctions screening, or blockchain analytics, all of whom are bound by appropriate data processing agreements;
  • As otherwise described in our Privacy Policy, available at shakebetsonline.co.

KYC records are retained for the period required by our licence obligations and applicable law, typically a minimum of five years from the end of the customer relationship.

14. Staff Training and Internal Controls

May Sun Services S.A. maintains internal AML and KYC procedures for all staff who interact with customer accounts or financial transactions. Relevant personnel receive regular training on:

  • Recognising signs of money laundering and suspicious activity;
  • Customer due diligence and enhanced due diligence requirements;
  • Internal escalation and SAR filing procedures;
  • Tipping-off prohibitions and confidentiality obligations;
  • Updates to applicable AML legislation and FATF guidance.

An appointed Money Laundering Reporting Officer ("MLRO") holds overall responsibility for AML compliance within the business, including overseeing this Policy, reviewing internal SAR referrals, and liaising with external authorities.

15. Responsible Gambling and AML Interaction

Shakebet recognises that problem gambling and financial crime risk can intersect. Unusual account behaviour that may indicate a gambling problem — such as repeated large deposits followed by rapid losses — will also be considered from a financial crime perspective, and vice versa. Our compliance and responsible gambling teams work in conjunction to ensure that players who may be vulnerable receive appropriate support. Players who wish to apply deposit limits, cooling-off periods, or self-exclusion are encouraged to contact our support team at any time via Live Chat or email at shakebetsonline.co.

16. Policy Review

This Policy is reviewed periodically by May Sun Services S.A. to ensure it remains current and effective in light of changes to applicable legislation, regulatory guidance, and evolving financial crime typologies. The most current version of this Policy is always available on shakebetsonline.co. Continued use of the platform following any update to this Policy constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

17. Contact Us
